If you were educated outside the Czech Republic and want to continue your studies, get a qualified job, or confirm your professional competence in the Czech Republic, you need to go through nostrification — the procedure for officially recognising your diploma.

The nostrification procedure takes on average from 30 to 60 days and depends on how busy the universities are. In some cases additional exams may be required — especially where study programmes differ.
Economic and technical diplomas are usually recognised without difficulty. Humanities diplomas are checked more thoroughly. Law and medical specialities are considered the most complex and often require exams and an appeal to the Ministry of Education.
Law diplomas from CIS countries are often recognised with a change of speciality — for example, as “Public Administration”.

The application must be reviewed within 60 days.
The application can be submitted to any state university that offers a speciality close to yours. The university’s nostrification department will compare the content of your study programme with Czech equivalents.
If the comparison is positive, the diploma is recognised as equivalent to a Czech one. The university that issued the confirmation does not matter — nostrification is valid throughout the Czech Republic.
