Document of legal capacity to marry (if issued by a foreign state, this document must be no older than 6 months on the date of marriage)
Confirmation of personal status and place of residence (if issued by a foreign state)
Death certificate of one of the partners (if it concerns a widower/widow; this document does not need to be submitted if this information is included in the document of legal capacity to marry)
Court divorce ruling (if it concerns a divorced foreigner)
Confirmation that the marriage will be recognised as valid in the foreigner's country of residence (if the marriage is concluded through an authorised representative)

Confirmation of the right to reside in the Czech Republic, which must be no older than 7 working days on the day of marriage (this does not apply to citizens of the European Union or other contracting states of the European Economic Area Agreement)
Documents issued by the authorities of a foreign state that are recognised as public documents in the place of issue must be submitted with an official translation into Czech and duly certified.
The couple contacts the registry office (vital records department) for information about their intention to marry, submits the necessary documents, completes the relevant applications and reserves the ceremony date. On the day of the ceremony, the registrar will tell the couple when the marriage certificate can be collected from the registry office (the marriage certificate can be sent to the couple's address by arrangement).
If neither the bride nor the groom has permanent residence in the Czech Republic, an administrative fee of 5,000 CZK is charged; if only one of the couple has permanent residence in the Czech Republic, an administrative fee of 3,000 CZK is charged. This fee is paid at the registry office when submitting the application to marry.
The couple submits an application for a marriage certificate at the registry office (within the administrative district where the marriage is to take place) and submits the necessary documents.
The registry office issues a marriage certificate confirming that the legal requirements for marrying in this form have been met.
The couple submits the certificate to the church where they intend to marry.
